The larger holes will need to go towards the inside (for the hinges); the instructions suggest the opposite. Would highly recommend these Dream Pairs sandals. I will spare you the details but apparently this is becoming more and more common. The 20 second auto-off feature lets your bedroom stay dark rather than have an all night red glow like some other brands. Way overpriced. To say the least it sucks. Im glad I bought it and Id highly recommend. It also comes with a cheat sheet for all of us who dont want to read the whole manual which isnt super thick anyway. They are essential in my business. Outside of the cushioning, the slipper is well made.
