But this is apparently normal with Birks. I needed a comfortable pair of sandals with a heel strap and I love my Birkenstocks but find that walking for any extended period of time in the standard Birkenstock sandal is not the most comfortable and don?t easily stay on my feet without great effort, hence my need for a heel strap.
