The touch pad area is the essence for all the functions. you read a page and it seems after reading 20 pages you still on page one No additional programming needed, i just dropped my ear buds into the case and boom, ready to go. Wondered if I should take black electric tape to wrap it around to keep it intact, but decided against it as the thought brought back visions of boys in my younger years, using the very same tape to fix their glasses.
