Clearly designed for phone application and not for home stereo. Quality, sound, comfort, noise cancellation, battery life, signal reach, set-up with work laptop and iPhone in parallel, all works better than expected. Still, I do love the rack besides this one issue. Delighted and would make a point of ordering this brand again. 5 inches (my iPhone 7 Plus fits fine). ???? They run very narrow. They are so comfortable and I love my husband for buying them for me. reasonable for the price; not great. Then I got the new Apple airpods as a Christmas present, and they have worked well for me. Because of this I have dropped it to 4 stars.
